Shannah Biondine

I've been creating characters and conflicts since 1994.

Characters are often based in part on "real people." We've all encountered memorable people: those with odd mannerisms, unusual views, or a terrific sense of humor. These quirks are what make individuals distinctive, and I hope I never stop blending my observations into new mixtures.

Storylines - These stem partially from plot ideas I have brewing, then get refined by the characters themselves. I smile when asked how do I come up with ideas...EVERYTHING gives me ideas. I'm always daydreaming & mentally spinning tales out of intriguing soundbites on the news, a film or other author's book, events I witness...you name it. Many of these bits & pieces I'll save to weave into a book someday. Many I'll cast aside, but it's all like seashells on the beach. I'm forever beach combing!

I'm very happily married and raising children. Besides working on my own books, I critique online for a handful of other writers, compose articles, judge contests, and participate in book signings or workshops as well as donating books to the local library. I believe in nurturing and helping others in the craft and giving back some of the blessings I've received.

Why do I write fiction?

For me fiction is a therapeutic way of coping with the realities of life. In my romance novels, the course of love will be bumpy--but ultimately worth the price of any personal sacrifice. In a fictional world of my making, pain or suffering serve a purpose. Devotion, kindness, belief in the inherent goodness of the human heart are inevitably rewarded.

Real life can be incomprehensible: cruel, unpredictable, meting out random events where we can find no sense of justice.

A friend once complimented me on being a survivor. She said that no matter what Life dealt me, I coped. I persevered. She talked about the legacy I leave to my children by example.

My books are the true legacy. May you find humor, courage, or hope in them for years to come.

Forger, drunkard, burners, and cheats?.
While working a smuggling case for Astute Investigations, Denver detective Wil Bregon is drawn to San Francisco’s rollicking Barbary Coast. Formerly an Eastern lawyer and experienced gun for hire, Wil’s not daunted by outlaws and ruffians or prowling foggy dockside taverns. But he isn?t prepared for ghostly visitations from his dead wife or finding himself powerfully attracted to a young blonde who bears a noticeable resemblance to his late spouse. Harmonie Ashlar is a charlatan, a girl with a local reputation for staging pranks for monetary gain. Is she purposely masquerading as Wil’s deceased wife as part of some confidence scheme? Has someone paid her to threaten Wil’s sanity, or is his own imagination playing tricks on him, in an eerie, inexplicable Sleight of Mind? Wil Bregon seems to be everything Harmonie has always yearned for: a man who’s handsome, resourceful, rugged, and shrewd. He’s also deeply troubled?and there is someone watching the pair. Someone willing to do anything to keep them apart. Caught in a web of deceit, can Harmonie and Wil escape the danger looming over them and the lingering phantom of Wil’s turbulent past?

Effie’s fianc?, Milford Browne, has been in Silver City for more than a year, establishing his fortune and building a new home where he will live with his future bride.
The shadow. A Waniand mercenary, cowled in black, dark and forbidding. Preece the Warmonger, also called the Royal Blade. Rumors about him suggest the creature beneath the black cowl is not entirely human. Starlight. A woman of bright gentian tresses and rare beauty, promised in marriage to the prince regent of another realm. Given in wedlock not as a cherished prize but as a secret weapon meant to topple the reigning monarchy ... unless the Warmonger can find a way to prevent the marriage, even if it means risking both their lives in an act of outright treason. Even if it means losing Moreya herself, his memory, his very reason for living. Yet Destiny has waited for just this turn in the wheel of time and human events. A prophecy must be fulfilled, the future of ancient bloodlines secured. Preece must return to reclaim all he once lost--including Moreya, the Yune beauty with the trusting innocence of a child and the courageous heart of a dragon. Eppie Award Winner
