Jerri Garretson

Jerri grew up in Manhattan, Kansas. After graduating from the University of Kansas, she traveled the world with her husband, an army attorney, for 24 years before returning to Manhattan when he retired from the military. They lived and worked in Germany, Japan, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Kentucky, Illinois, and Virginia.

Jerri holds an M.Ed. in educational technology from the University of Hawaii, and is a reference librarian at Kansas State University’s Hale Library. Previously, she was the head children’s librarian at Manhattan Public Library and children’s library services consultant for North Central Kansas Libraries System in Manhattan, Kansas. She was the first public affairs officer for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Japan District at Camp Zama, Japan.

Her published writing includes newspaper and newsletter features and columns published in Germany, Japan, and the USA, and articles in national children’s magazines such as Highlights for Children, Child Life and The Friend. Many of the articles are illustrated with her photographs. She is a member of S.C.B.W.I.

In 1997, she founded Ravenstone Press to fill a need she saw for more stories about Kansas, the Great Plains and the prairie. She is the author of six books, including the young adult mystery and ghost story, THE SECRET OF WHISPERING SPRINGS.
